Grandma Wright’s Amish Cookies

Step One

Mix together:

  • 2 ½ cupssugar.
  • 2eggs
  • 1 ½ cups butter
  • 1 ½ cups half & half sour (add 1 ½ tablespoon vinegar to half & half and let stand 5 min.

Step Two

Add:

  • 3 teaspoons baking powder.
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking soda
  • 6 cups flour
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla
  • 1 ½ teaspoon lemon extract

Mix into dough and roll into wallnut(or bigger) sized peices, place on cookie sheet and flatten with the bottom a a glass (or with your fingers) till about 3/8 inch thick.

Bake at 350 until edges begin to turn brown. Don’t over bake.

Icing:

Mix together powdered sugar, milk, little bit of melted butter and food coloring
